Wheel Wheel - Dissipating

Elevated by definition
I've never been a stranger to folly
I've been clambering for purchase
And given none

Venerating every endeavour
To defy the baser mechanics
Why would there be an exception
For us

When nothing ever lasts?

You double down upon your position
Ever zealous in your denial
Still extrapolating meaning
With fervour

Slinging around the same response for centuries
(I'm) Getting tired of all these rebuttals
Why do we keep on entertaining
The assumption
That it should be fair?

There's no evading it
The inescapable reality
But even in my bleakest moments I find myself
Relinquishing my bitterness

Suddenly it comes to me
Nothing's what it seems to be
And all of my apathy
Is dissipating like the wind
If everything will turn to rust
And none of this was owed to us
Then all we experience
Will have to be enough

So I'll cling to that instead

Beyond imagining
The distances untravelled

I'll embrace these limitations
And stop trying to escape them
I'm free
And all you'll ever be, is
Forever indifferent to me
