The Argonauts
Like gods from the sea
Now climb ashore
Heroes all, armed with steel!
Spears agleam
And helmets sparkle
The standard of Hellas
Billows in enemy lands!
With sword and shield
Hellenic steel
To conquer the world
And bring kings to heel
Under the sun and over the sea
Argo glides on ocean leagues
By the moon and by Zeus
Adventure calls the Argonauts!
With sword and shield
Ten thousand leagues
O’er waves of Neptune
The setting sun is caught
In our flashing swords!
Would that I had
Only one yard
Of Hellenic steel
Than all the golden crowns
Of the wild Easterlings
Poseidon's waves we all must brave
To distant shores as we set sail
With song attuned to pulling oars
And wine that steels Hellenic hearts!
All for one, Argo for all –
What horror creeps on yonder shore?
The heroes' ranks are closed at once
As steel is drown to face what comes
With sword and shield
Hellenic steel
To conquer the world
And bring kings to heel
The steel that's forge in fire-hearts
In battle rings a keen death-toll
Now, from Iolcos we bring you this
Hellenic steel to claim the fleece!
With sword and shield
Hellenic steel
To conquer the world
And bring kings to heel
