Biography

Robert Palmer was a British singer, songwriter, and musician known for his distinctive soulful voice, enigmatic persona, and eclectic musical style. Born in Batley, Yorkshire, on June 19, 1949, he rose to prominence in the 1980s as a solo artist and frontman of the band Power Station.

Musical Journey

Palmer's musical career began in the late 1960s with the band The Alan Bown Set. He later formed his own group, Sneaky Feelin', which released three albums before disbanding in 1974. Palmer then embarked on a solo career, releasing his debut album, "Sneakin' Sally Through the Alley," in 1974.

Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, Palmer released a series of critically acclaimed albums, including "Double Fun" (1978), "Clues" (1980), "Maybe It's Live" (1982), and "Riptide" (1985). His music blended elements of rock, soul, reggae, and pop, creating a unique and captivating sound.

"Addicted to Love" and Commercial Success

Palmer's biggest commercial success came with the release of his 1986 single "Addicted to Love." The song, with its iconic music video featuring scantily clad models, became a global hit and propelled Palmer to international fame. Power Station

In 1985, Palmer teamed up with John Taylor and Andy Taylor of Duran Duran and Tony Thompson of Chic to form the supergroup Power Station. The band released a self-titled album in 1985, which featured the hit singles "Get It On" and "Some Like It Hot."
