In the mid-1970s, a group of young musicians from Solothurn, Switzerland, embarked on a musical journey that would eventually lead to international acclaim. Led by vocalist Marc Storace and guitarist Tommy Kiefer, Krokus quickly rose through the ranks of the local rock scene.
After releasing their debut album, "Krokus," in 1975, the band caught the attention of Intercord Records, which signed them to a multi-album deal. Their sophomore album, "To You All," released in 1976, featured the hit single "Tokyo Nights," which became a Top 10 hit in Switzerland.
International Breakthrough
In the early 1980s, Krokus set their sights on international success. They joined forces with producer Tom Allom, known for his work with Judas Priest, and recorded their breakthrough album, "Metal Rendez-vous." The album, released in 1980, featured the iconic single "Screaming in the Night," which propelled the band to worldwide fame.
Continued Success and Controversy
Krokus's success continued throughout the 1980s with albums such as "One Vice at a Time" (1982), "Headhunter" (1983), and "Change of Address" (1986). However, the band also faced its share of controversy. In 1987, they were accused of promoting drug use with their song "Midnite Maniac."
Later Years and Legacy
Despite the controversies, Krokus remained a popular live act and released several more albums in the 1990s and 2000s. In 2013, the band celebrated their 40th anniversary with a special tour and the release of a compilation album.
Today, Krokus is considered one of the most influential Swiss hard rock bands of all time. Their music has inspired countless musicians and their legacy continues to be celebrated by fans worldwide.
