Begin Again

Begin Again: A Journey of Renewal and Redemption

In the annals of alternative rock, Begin Again stands as a beacon of resilience and redemption. The band's origins can be traced back to the bustling streets of Los Angeles, where four young musicians crossed paths and forged an unbreakable bond: Michael Sarver (vocals, guitar), Andrew McMahon (vocals, piano, guitar), Zach Rogue (guitar, vocals), and Jason Suwito (bass).

Their debut album, "Lost in the Echo," released in 2009, catapulted Begin Again into the spotlight. The record's haunting melodies, introspective lyrics, and raw energy resonated with audiences worldwide. However, their rise to fame was not without its challenges.

In 2012, Andrew McMahon was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Amidst the devastation, the band members rallied around their friend and leader. They continued to perform, with Andrew's place on stage filled by guest musicians. During this difficult time, Begin Again released their sophomore album, "All I Want Is More," which showcased their growth and unwavering spirit.

Throughout their career, Begin Again has faced controversies. Their music has been accused of being overly sentimental and lacking originality. However, the band has remained unyielding in their artistic vision. Their songs often explore themes of heartbreak, loss, and the search for redemption.

Despite the challenges, Begin Again has released a succession of acclaimed albums, including "The Way We Were" (2015) and "No Place Like This" (2018). Their songwriting has matured, blending their signature blend of alt-rock with elements of pop and soul.

The band's most recent single, "I Was Never Your Girlfriend," has garnered widespread attention. The song is a powerful anthem about unrequited love and the importance of self-respect. Its raw emotion and relatable lyrics have made it a fan favorite.
